Last week we were invited to a special preview of Fright Fest at Six Flags Fiesta Texas and Mary and Hannah went out to check out the festivities. Looks like another amazing year for Fiesta Texas and we can't wait to see more from their Fright Fest. Written by Mary Noel Revel-DeLeon The Fright Fest VIP event was frightfully fun. Starting with the yummy food spread and free beer. Who doesn't like beer!!!???? The line up of haunted houses and scare zones was full of everything your nightmares are made of, from Chupacabras to Clowns and hitting everything in between. Scare Zones were all cool and all equally sarcastic. Now for the Haunted Houses. Slaughter House 6 was very intense and gruesome as was Buried Alive. The Actors were very scary and fun. Lots of drama or gore and very intense scenes, Not for the faint of heart. The Rockhill High School Haunted House was the longest one and had the most scares. Set up was pretty cool too, definitely not as gruesome as the first 2 . I have to say my favorite was the Fear House 3D. Which by the way shocked me because I hate clowns, hate with a passion!!! But I loved it! You couldn't tell where the curtains were vs where the walls were. So the scares were intense. The 3D effects were awesome and the clowns were so rad! If you only do one of the Haunted Houses go to this one. But I'd suggest all of them so you can decide which one is your favorite. Welcome to Fright Fest at Six Flags Fiesta Texas Hannah is actually excited to be here Our passes and schedule for our night of fright Some of the scare zones were open to welcome us Beware of monsters Yay for free food Entrance to Buried Alive The projection mapping on Aftermath looks amazing Love all the characters and props One last look at the awesome projection mapping Thanks to Fiesta Texas for having us out for the preview, we can't wait to get back out to the event for more scares. If you have any comments, please share them below The last few years Fright Fest at Six Flags Magic Mountain has been improving by leaps and bounds. Gone are the "paint on black walls" mazes that dominated the event in the 90's and early 00's and they have been replaced with fully immersive environments and the best make-up effects at any haunt in Southern California. Written by Gregg Condon Pictures and Video by Matthew Nelson and Gregg Condon Welcome to Fright Fest 2016! Unlike other theme park haunts, Fright Fest doesn't close prior to the scary stuff starting and instead a maze pass is needed to go through all of the mazes. Due to a couple of events and the last day for "Bring a Friend Free" the park was crazy busy. Praise on the Mountain and Fright Fest ... a match made in, well, somewhere. A few years ago, SFMM didn't really do events for Fright Fest. The first kind of "media" event they did was a few years ago (2011) when my son and I got walked through the then all new Aftermath with a member of their PR department (this was back in the MiceChat days). In just a few short years, 2 has grown into 96 and we couldn't be more happy for the attention this event is getting. They've figured out how to pack their event with Theme Park Bloggers ... food!! =) Beware of Zombies ... Our first stop was the all new Suicide Squad scare zone The way the scare zone is set up is the actual "Suicide Squad" are set up more like photo ops and the "underlings" are the actual scarers. This actually works very well as you can see how popular the Joker is. This was essentially as close as we got. The sliders in this area are always amazing There is some incredible projection mapping on the DC Universe facade. We will be going back to Fright Fest on a slightly less busy night and will get video of the amazing effects. Be sure to check out the slideshow below for more pictures of this awesome scare zone Next up was the awesome Aftermath 2 which we got a tour of last week. Be sure to check out that update if you missed it. Full walk through of Aftermath Two guesses who took these amazing pictures (hint, it was Matt) Magic Mountain was totally amazing with the media providing some escorts so we could take pictures and video in all the mazes and walking us through all of the amazing scare zones. Nightmares A Twisted Fantasy is always one of our favorite scare zones The always great Demons Door has received some new effects this year Last year the amazing Terrortory Twisted debuted at Fright Fest and this year it once again doesn't disappoint. All the fog in this area drifts over to Scream and Twisted Colossus which provides some nice effects for both those rides. Reds Revenge which debuted a few years ago continues to improve every year and this year was no exception. Have to admit, the first few years of Vault 666 were "fun", but it was kind of overshadowed by Reds which debuted the same year. This year, there was easily double the talent of previous years and the maze was AWESOME. Be sure to check out our awesome video of this great maze Toyz of Terror 3D is amazing and one of the few remaining 3D mazes Hiding behind the short bus Thanks again to Magic Mountain for an amazing night at Fright Fest. We'll definitely be back this year and stay tuned for a potential surprise in a few weeks. For MUCH more amazing pictures of Fright Fest be sure to check out the slideshow below Related Updates: In addition to our first Justice League tour we also got to check out the all new Aftermath 2 Chaos Rising that is coming to this years Fright Fest at Six Flags Magic Mountain. Be sure to check out all the great pictures and video from this amazing tour. Written by Gregg Condon Video of the tour including a bit of explanation of the new maze from the amazing designers The new maze is located near Apocalypse and is the biggest maze in Fright Fest history. Welcome to Ash Valley, who's population is probably a bit less than that now. =) Follow the Evacuation Route and you will be safe for sure Hmm, something isn't right here That doesn't look good Have you seen them? My twin So not only are there multiple paths through this maze (that are totally different) there's also a scare zone ... in the maze. When you've gotta go you've gotta go It's back!!! Wonder if Walter White know's what they've done to his camper David Wally explaining a bit about the maze ... you've gotta watch the video to hear more This maze has got a pretty high body count Heading to the Dock and safety ... maybe. They wouldn't tell us what the ending of the maze was. We'll have to find out on Saturday. Maze and Scare Zone location signs are up throughout the park The Suicide Squad scare zone is looking awesome Loved the way this picture came out This was just added yesterday, can't wait to see it all lit up Thanks to Mark, Pam and Scott for the amazing tour. Be sure to watch the video for more details on what is going to be in the Scare Zone We'll of course be back at Magic Mountain this Saturday for the kick off of Fright Fest, so be sure to follow us on our social media pages for live updates all night.
