This past weekend we headed out to Six Flags Magic Mountain to take a look at the progress on Project 2019 (which will be announced in just over 2 weeks), Fright Fest Prep (which begins next month if you can believe it) and of course a few rides on CraZanity. Let's head into the park!! Written by Gregg Condon Like most of our recent updates, you can have your update in picture or video form. Ops on CraZanity have improved TREMENDOUSLY since opening, averaging just a few minutes between dispatching. And the ride is of course amazing. And seems to be VERY popular. Hopefully this is a good sign for more flat rides in the future. They've also added some fences around the landscaping to keep people out. I'd imagine more plants will be added here once the summer months are over. Let's head over into the soon to be extinct, Cyclone Bay. The park has begun teasing the 2019 attraction, lots of things here definitely support some of the rumors going around about the ride. Apocalypse is down for the count, a lot of track has been removed already. The last time you rode this ride as Apocalypse was the last time you rode this ride as Apocalypse. =) Bye Cyclone Bay, wish we could say you'll be missed but ... Lots of prep work being done for the new attraction and development behind the park. The park is already promoting Fright Fest The facade for Sewer of Souls is looking amazing. Can't wait to see inside. The past few re-themes of this maze have been merely cosmetic, that does not seem to be the case this time. Keep out ... for now. And lastly, a new air conditioner was installed on the Orient, err, Helpful Honda Express. It's a Big'un. Alright everybody, that's gonna wrap it up. We hope you enjoyed. Be sure to check back tomorrow as we'll have the full announcements from Canada's Wonderland and their 2019 attraction. Related Videos:
Related Updates: Hello there Park Journey Readers!! Today was finally the day, it was time to get CraZy, and InZane, and enjoy the AweZome new ride at Zix FlagZ Magic Mountain. (sorry, I've been up since 245am) Let's check it out!! Written by Gregg Condon (click any picture below to see a larger version) The best thing about having to get to Six Flags Magic Mountain at 4am ... well, despite the lack of people and the possibility of seeing a Raccoon is to ride an amazing new ride. And even better, getting to see the awesome lighting package. Let's start off with our Reverse POV on the ride!! You can see the ride and the lighting package from well outside the park Ever wanted to know how we do Media Days? Cats out of the bag. We use both hands. =) The result, our off-ride video below with the amazing lighting package!! Seriously cannot wait to see the lighting package on this during Fright Fest and Holiday In The Park The lights underneath were a nice surprise as well. Some more pics of the ride in action Ride sign, safety first!! Really liked this blue!! Typically during media days there's so much going on we don't really get a chance to get a lot of pictures. That was not the case today. So I decided to play with the camera settings a bit. Something about CraZanity made me want to use some of the more vivid settings. You can see some of the results below. You'd think doing black and white pictures wouldn't do the ride justice. But they still do. Some more bizarre camera settings because why not As the sun came out the ride really popped. Again, something about this ride made me want to use different settings than what you get with a normal lens. Hope you agree. It still looks great with no filters though. =) Confetti ... A LOT of Confetti!! A Plethora of Confetti (Confett-eye?) So how is the ride? This was my first of the giant pendulum's. I think the biggest I'd ridden up to this point is the one at King's Dominion (haven't ridden Wonder Woman at SFDK yet). And I totally loved it. The sign of a good ride? No matter how many times you ride it you still get that little twinge of nervousness. And as you can see in our reverse POV, I was still a bit nervous, until it got going. And that was probably my 4th or 5th ride. And as soon as the park opened, and they opened the ride, there was a line. The GP was ready to ride and I anticipate the ride being VERY popular. This is definitely not an "in between" ride, or something to "take a break" on between extreme coasters. This is as extreme as any other ride in the park, but so much fun. It will be a must ride on every visit to the park for sure!! But wait ... there's more!!! Also took a chance to check out Project 2019 Construction since there was nobody at the park. And they are doing a LOT of work. Even since our last update last week. It looks like Gold Rusher got a new sponsor And because why not, a few more camera experiment pictures in an empty Metropolis. Alright all, that's a wrap on our media day coverage. We hope you enjoyed!! Now get out there and ride and be sure to share your thoughts on the ride!!! We'd love to know what you think. Today we've got another update from Six Flags Magic Mountain where we're looking at the final steps for getting CraZanity open to the public. The ride is pretty much done and was testing. All that appears to be left is some landscaping. We also have our first signs of 2019 construction? Let's take a look!! Written by Gregg Condon Welcome to Six Flags Magic Mountain, it was "Bring a Friend Free" day which means it was busy, so bring your patience along with your buddy!! We randomly went into the far left line and they were trying out Scanners for bags. Which means this line went WAY faster than the others. Let's hope this test is successful and they implement these at all entrances. When I left the park, they had this open as well. Weird that there isn't a metal detector here though. If they are going to use this, they should at least have mobile ones they can use here. Hi Tatsu and Revolution. The better ride out of you two is sadly still closed. Full Throttle has a new sponsor ... because when I think extreme thrills I think Chicken I can't buy on Sunday's. A pretty decent way to wake up Let's get on with the Boardwalk update. First we have a full video update of CraZanity and the Boardwalk The Boardwalk is looking great!! It looked like most of the games were open as well All of the walls are down around CraZanity LOTS of space here Only thing left to do is some landscaping Sadly we didn't see a full test while we were there, but they were testing when we were waiting to park. You can indeed see the ride from out there. It's really tall. Scrambler is also back open and looks GREAT!! Bumper Cars aren't quite ready for prime-time yet. I'd anticipate them opening with CraZanity. We also checked out the new bathrooms but didn't take pics because that's hella creepy. Moving on, is this our first construction update of the new for 2019 attraction? Maybe!!! The long-rumored re-do of Cyclone Bay (please change the name) looks like it may be happening next year. This area (and the area between Full Throttle and Goliath) is really the last of the area's to get a re-theme/re-do over the past 5 or 6 years. And it needs it badly. We obviously have no idea what's coming but we'll find out in about 2 months when Six Flags announces all of their 2019 attractions. Depending on what the theme is, we would fully anticipate Apocalypse getting another re-theme. Which would be totally fine with us. Would imagine this area may be closed off after Fright Fest is over and hopefully Apocalypse will get some more re-tracking done during that time. Lastly, some nice new shirts. Really am liking the merchandise the park is putting out recently. Alright, that's gonna wrap it up. As soon as we get an opening date for CraZanity we'll let you know!! Related Videos:
