If you have any comments, please share them below Welcome to our first New Revolution Update. Over the next 6-9 months we'll be covering the return of the classic Revolution at Six Flags Magic Mountain. For those who never got to ride the original Revolution you are in for a treat when it reopens next year. Written by Gregg Condon Before we get started on the update, be sure to set your calendar to join in on another live chat Monday night (Sept 14) at 8pm Pacific. The Coaster Guy and I will be talking about Fright Fest, Haunt, Halloween Horror Nights, our Magic Mountain event on Oct 2 and pretty much anything else you could want to discuss. The event and live chat are open for all. For all the info click the link here. My day actually started off in Ventura at about 6:00am and the Ventura Half Marathon. Because you know, where else would you want to do after running 13.1 miles other than go to a theme park. =) After the race on the left, and about 90 minutes later at Hurricane Harbor. We actually had a nice relaxing afternoon at the park and hope to get back up there at least once more before it closes for the season. It's been so hot I'm sure we can pull it off. After enjoying the cool waters of Hurricane Harbor it was time to head over to SFMM to take a look at Revolution. The gate means don't go here (although we did see somebody in the smoking section over there). So expect a larger wall here soon. A look at the front, not much has been done yet. (forgive the pics, these were all taken on a cell phone) In our walk around the ride, it appears that one train is gone. We were doing a live Periscope and somebody mentioned that one of the trains was backward. It's not. We could have been had and I'm too tired to look for the source. =) Heading up the Orient Express (because I wasn't about to walk up the hill). Again, not much to see ... yet. Over on the other side, a wall is blocking the exit, but nothing much has been done ... again ... yet. =) No train in the station, one on the brake run. Moving on from Revolution, let's take a look at Fright Fest Prep. Be sure to get tickets for our Fright Fest/ERT event on October 2. It's only a couple of weeks away now!! Willougby's Facade is up. Lighting is being added to Exile Hill. Signs for the Express Pass Entrance for Fright Fest has been added to Willoughby's Garden (which you can use during our event on Oct 2 ;) ) Wasteands is looking great as always!!! Zombie Xing is also looking great. Less than 2 weeks until Fright Fest begins!!! Alright, that's gonna wrap it up for this update. Not sure when we'll have another one but if we end up going back up to Hurricane Harbor over the next two weeks I'll sneak away to grab an update. =) Thanks again for all the support and we hope to see you all on October 2!!! Yesterday we headed up to Six Flags Magic Mountain to get some rides in on Revolution for it's last day but also to see some out of town friends. Site contributor and friend Renee was out from Orlando for the Disneyland Half Marathon (that update will be tomorrow) and was spending the day at the park, so I had to head up to spend some time as we don't get to hang out nearly enough. Arriving at the park at opening, it was already a warm day. Banners are already out promoting New Revolution as well as the Season Pass sale. Fright Fest decorations, more in the park (and below). Be sure to come to our event on October 2 to see it in person!!! =) They are really pushing the dining passes and the "all you can drink sports bottles" for 2016. Both are a great deal!! Suggestion: If they aren't going to let outside drinks in and are pushing all you can drink bottles, then they need to have places to get drinks when the park opens. At about 10:30 I went to get a refill at the Full Throttle Coke Freestyle Machines and it had no ice. The park had JUST opened. I had to go next door to get ice. And throughout the day the line to use the Freestyle machines at this location was out into the midway. They need to come up with a better location for these machines IMO. This also means that they need to have locations open at the back of the park prior to 11:30, especially on hot days like yesterday. For the first time in a LONG time, first stop of the day was Revolution. They will be trimming some trees around the ride and even removing some. Hopefully they'll keep some but we would love to see the ones around the loop cut back a bit so you can see it. Bye trains, don't let the door hit you where the lord (Anton) split you. Still a landmark No word if the waterfalls will be back, it'd be nice. But it likely depends on how much rain we get this winter due to the drought. Hopefully the shady queue will remain, it'll probably be needed when the ride reopens. Heading into the station No word on how much redesign the station will get, but some paint, etc would be nice. We'll see what happens back here, if anything. It would be nice if the observation deck would make a return, but with ADA requirements it's probably a long shot. They gave out some great buttons, we do have 1 extra to give away, we'll have to come up with some cool way to do it in the next few weeks. After a couple of rides on Revolution it was time to meet up with Renee and a few other friends to go on a few rides including Twisted Colossus of course. If you ever wonder where those awesome Orlando updates come from, wonder no more. =) After a few "credit" rides on Twisted Colossus, Green Lantern (those who had the credit obviously sat out) and Speedy Gonzales, it was time to head back over to Revolution. Interesting thing about yesterday, they were doing assigned seating, one patron didn't enjoy that very much and they actually had to call security to escort him out of the park. Folks, if they are doing assigned seating on a ride, don't gripe, don't throw a hissy, don't start cursing in front of kids, just say thank you, get on the ride and be done with it. Back over by Revolution, they are working on the Chupacabra maze. That's gonna wrap it up for today's update. We've got a VERY busy 2 months coming up so the next SFMM update will probably be for Mountain Madness on October 2. We'll be of course posting all day and hopefully have lots of great pictures to share with you from our first ever event. We hope to see you there!! |
