Today we were back at Six Flags Magic Mountain for a bit of pre Super-Bowl fun as well as to take a look at The New Revolution. It's been a few weeks since our last update so we have quite a bit to get to today. Before we get started with the update, don't forget that tickets to our event on June 5 are NOW ON SALE!! The event features ERT on The New Revolution, food, tours and much more all for just $55. Click the picture below for details. Alright, let's get on with the update. As you can see, lots of painting has been going on since our last update, and the parts that have been painted look amazing. The loop has yet to be painted. Primer added to the bottom of the supports Some of the completed parts of the ride, it looks great. It's nice to see this ride being restored to it's former glory. The top of the 3rd drop. Moving around back to where the Chupacabra maze was ... some new paths are being drawn out. Not sure if this is for the queue or perhaps for Flash Pass. Would be interesting if they moved the entrance back to this side. The station looks great with it's new colors and roof. The old ride panel is completely gone No paint on the lift hill yet. You can see on the bottom of the lift just how badly the ride needed paint. This will be painted by the time we do our next update. Coming down the second hill Up the hill on the backside of the ride, most of this area has been painted. Really shows how badly Tatsu needs to be painted. Per our resident expert RD these are Velocity Magnets (sorry for not being able to zoom in more). Back towards the front, the portion after the loop is still waiting to get painted This is going to look so amazing when it's all done. We got a few questions during our Periscope while we were at the park regarding opening dates. We have yet to hear anything official from the park. All we can say is it will be open by June 5. So if you are making travel plans to come ride, you are safe to make plans and come to our event. (shameless plug) Along with The New Revolution, some of the other rides in the area are getting some TLC. It's awesome to see the Grand Carousel get some work. Be sure to ride it when it reopens. They are promoting RollerCoaster Tycoon World. Let's hope we actually get to play it soon. The old Dolphin/Diving/Action Show / Aftermath area is still being demolished. Don't think there was Stroller Parking for Aftermath, and can't remember when the last time there was a show in here. So this sign has been here awhile. There'some kind of small excavator/crane in there It'll be interesting to see what becomes of this area of the park. Some new markers with numbers have shown up back in Cyclone bay. Let the speculation begin. =) Hmmm, maybe some kind of Michael Jordan themed coaster? 26, 25, 24, 23 ... hmmmm. For real, this is likely for some pipe work/new concrete, but it's fun to have fun anyway. =) Kind of old news, but Panda Express is being replaced by Pick Six which is a Six Flags branded chinese food. Too bad they couldn't have moved this up to Samurai Summit. And we'll end with a picture of one of the Green Lanterns, because why not. =) Thanks again for reading and for all of the incredible support. It's all very much appreciated. Happy Monday and welcome to our first Six Flags Magic Mountain update of 2016. We headed up to the park this past Saturday to get our first rides of 2016 in and of course to bring you the latest on The New Revolution. It was a very light day in the park as you'll see below. Also, don't forget our second event at Six Flags Magic Mountain "Mountain Madness 2.0 - Revolution's Revenge" will be held on Sunday June 5 with ERT on The New Revolution and much more. We got our pricing last week and we are VERY happy with what we've got for you all for such a low price. Look for tickets to be on sale within the next week or so. We'll of course let you all know when. In the meantime, be sure to click our event info in the link and RSVP. It's going to be an amazing day. Written by Gregg Condon One of the main reasons we headed up to the park was to process our 2016 Season Passes. This is the kind of line you want to see!! Because the park has been open daily (other than 2 days for rain) there is still a lot of Holiday In The Park stuff up. This will probably be gone by next week. The photo op is still looking great The loop ... hopefully they'll trim down these trees so we can get a clear view of the loop when the leaves come back in the spring. Yes, leaves fall off trees in California for the winter. ;) It's going to be so awesome to take these turns with no pain again. The walls at the entry have been decorated. 48 million rides, wow, that's awesome. RD only has about a million of those. =) Even though it was kind of chilly (in the 50's, so we won't say cold in respect to the rest of you who live in REALLY cold weather) they were working on Saturday. Pardon the zoom, only had the iPhone last week. If you eat at the park the Season Pass Gold Dining Pass is a really good deal. Us, we just got our sports bottle. A better angle, lots of wood replacement going on. It's nice to see them keeping the ride as close to original as possible. Moving around to the other side, lots of stuff has been torn out. Now that the trees are thinning out a bit we can start to see more of the work they are doing. Most of the old exit path that leads back towards the front of the park is gone. A wider shot ... And then lastly, from the Tatsu exit, you can see a lot of the layout. No paint yet and it's really not the best weather to be painting right now anyway. Moving on past Revolution towards Apocalypse. Took our first rides since Fright Fest and you can definitely tell they are working on the ride. While it's not quite where the ride was when it opened it's definitely rideable. You can see just how much wood is being replaced. There are also 2 trains on the ride, or there was last weekend. The old Dolphin/Action/Aftermath area is being removed for ??? A couple of random park notes, there is a new grill outside of the Waterfront area. It's a REALLY nice set-up. Need to have them come out and do this at our house. =) A new queue has been set up at Johnny Rockets which will hopefully help some of the traffic issues with people standing in the middle of the walkway. Hopefully these are coming to all eateries. Looks like a new sign for Panda Express is coming? Gearworks Theater is now promoting Season Passes. In honor of the upcoming Legacy of Arrow Documentary we made Viper our first coaster of 2016. Actually had a pretty decent ride on it. Be sure to check out the info for their world premiere on January 23. The park was so dead even Tatsu was a walk-on. Apparently I made some people shake their heads when I indicated on Instagram that I'm not really a fan of Tatsu. It's not just one thing, I just don't care for it. But I ride everything at least once a year, so that was my ride for the year. =) Best ride EVER!! Even though the park was pretty empty I expected there to be a line for Twisted Colossus. The Zeppelin has been replaced, which is great that they are maintaining the ride queue. And this was the line. The only time I'd seen a shorter line was during ERT of the first Mountain Madness back in October. Hopefully it will be slow next weekend too as we have JoAnna coming out from IL to ride Twisted Colossus for the first time. Alright, that's going to wrap it up for this update, we'll likely have another SFMM update next week as well as Knott's and maybe even Disneyland as apparently they are planning something big over there. =) Thanks again for all of the amazing support. We haven't thanked you all enough. Hey everybody, below is the final schedule for Mountain Madness coming up TOMORROW!! If you have yet to get your tickets, click here, for the rest of you, see below!!! Due to lower than expected ticket sales we did have to make some concessions in order to still have the event (see below). Trust us, we feel terrible this came at the last minute so to compensate we will be providing donuts, fruit and croissants upon your arrival to the park. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us. Keep in mind this is our first event and it's definitely been a learning experience for us. We have been committed since day one to bring you the best event we can and we feel we've done that. Trust us, we'll be taking what we've learned and using it for our future events. If you will be posting on Social Media during the event be sure to use #MtnMadness and tag the park. @sfmagicmountain on Twitter and @sixflagsmagicmountain on Instagram. 8:30am - Parking Opens (Parking is Free until 9:00am) 8:30am - 9:15am - Donuts, Fruit and Croissants at the front entrance Due to the shortened ERT (see below) we'll be bringing in some Donut's and Croissants for everybody. We can't bring these into the park so we'll be at the front of the park near the drop-off area. Come join us for some snacks and time to hang out before our crazy day. (see below for where we'll be meeting) * ERT Wristbands will also be handed out at this time 9:30am - 10:30am Morning ERT - Twisted Colossus Unfortunately due to lack of ticket sales ERT had to be cut down. But with only approximately 50 of us getting a lot of rides in during ERT won't be a problem at all. We apologize for the last minute change in schedule on this, but this is why we're bringing donuts and croissants. =) 10:20am - Park Open for Gold Passholders Feel free to head out to to the rest of the park to get some early rides on Full Throttle, X2 and Tatsu or keep riding Twisted Colossus. 10:30am - Six Flags Magic Mountain Opens Enjoy your day in the park. After our ERT on Twisted Colossus we suggest heading back up to the front of the park to ride Full Throttle, X2 and Tatsu. Although the day will not be very busy these rides still tend to get lines. 3:00pm - Maze Tour - Toyz of Terror 3D Meet at the tree in front of the Full Throttle Sports Bar at 2:50pm and we'll have our maze tour at 3:00pm. One time with the lights-on and then with show lighting and 3D glasses. 4:30pm - Twisted Colossus Tour Meet in Scream Plaza at 4:20 as we get a great 45 minute tour of the all new Twisted Colossus 5:30pm - Dinner at Paradise Picnic Pavilion We will be having dinner at the Paradise Picnic Pavilion which is located near Road Runner Express and Tweety's Escape in Bugs Bunny World * Fright Fest Wristbands will be handed out during dinner 7:00pm - Fright Fest Begins After our dinner we will walk over to check out the "Opening Moment" of Fright Fest in the Sinister Circuit Scare Zone (DC Universe) and then enjoy Fright Fest after that. (tip: You will have front of the line passes for the mazes but on opening night, Vault 666 was the longest line for Front of the Line. We suggest heading here first) 10:00pm - Group Ride on Gold Rusher Just for fun, we'll meet across from Gold Rusher at the Waterfront at about 9:50 and all make our way for a take-over of Gold Rusher. We won't have front of the line for the rides so we'll have to arrange it so we can all get on the same trains. This is a great ride at night and with a bunch of friends it will be even better. 1:00am - Fright Fest and Magic Mountain closes. We'll see you for Mountain Madness II in 2016!!! |
