We headed up to Six Flags Magic Mountain the other day to take a look at the all new white train on The New Revolution and to take a look around the park at what's maybe coming for 2017.
We'll be back at the park on Thursday so we'll have more from The New Revolution then but for now let's take a look at the new train and some nice night shots from friend of the site Cody. But the bulk of today's update is going to be looking at the potential for 2017 and a nice video we put together discussing some things about that project. Not really "what" the project us (as we don't know) but the potential and what that might mean for the rest of the backside of the park.

Before we get started, don't forget to get your tickets for Mountain Madness 2.0. We've got a great day planned for you and you definitely don't want to miss it. Click the picture below for all of the details.
The nice and shiny white train
If possible it was actually a bit smoother than the red train. So good to have this back. Took a nice front seat ride today without the VR.
And despite rumors, we did confirm with the park there will not be a 3rd train. Just the Red and White. Too bad as a a Blue train would have filled out the connection quite nicely.
How about a few night shots from our good friend Cody who was at the park last night.
And lastly, a couple of gif files we created from video Cody sent us. Love the classic amusement park feel this gives off.
Alright, enough of The New Revolution for now. We'll have more of that later in the week.
Our main update this week is looking at the 2017 project area and some speculation on not really the "what" is coming but what that means to the surrounding area.
We'll start back at the Action Theater which has been completely removed.
Lots of room here for "something" whether it's a Justice League dark ride or some other type of ride.
Fences all around the area. Once they start building something it's going to be pretty obvious what's coming.
Tidal Wave is closed, whatever is coming we have a feeling it's going to be DC themed. Let's hope this ride stays with a nice Aquaman re-theme.
Elsewhere in the park, Grad Nights are coming.
"It's peanut butter jelly time!"
Season Pass previews for The New Revolution end on April 17. The ride will be closed April 18-20 and reopen on April 21 with the ribbon cutting at 11am.
Total accidental almost awesome coaster shot. Didn't even notice the train coming down the first drop until I got home. =)
Lastly, new slide pieces continue to show up on site. These are replacing the kid friendly slides at the front of the park on "Reptile Ridge". Not sure if it's also replacing the speed slides that are there as well, let's hope the middle slide is staying. That's the best body slide in the park.
Alright, that's going to wrap it up for this update.
Be sure to check out the video above and let us know what you think about our 2017 project speculation and if you think we're crazy or are making maybe a little bit of sense. We'll be back up at the park on Thursday for the grand opening of The New Revolution and then on Friday we'll be at Discovery Kingdom for a tour of The Joker. Hope you all had a great weekend and we're here to start off your week with another look at The New Revolution at Six Flags Magic Mountain. This will be our last update prior to the rides soft opening for Passholders on March 26. We'll also take a look at the other things going on around the park. Written by Gregg Condon Before we get started, if you haven't yet, be sure to register for our event at Six Flags Magic Mountain on Sunday June 5. We will have ERT on The New Revolution, Food and Tours all for $55. Click the picture below to see all of the info on the event. For those of you who like your updates in video form, we've done a new video for you. Or you can look at the pictures and video. =) A look at the loop and the new Plaza Cafe. The track has now been completely painted The walls are down around the rides entry, which means an employee is stationed out front to tell everybody it's not open. New signs inside Really brings some much needed color to this area of the park. So glad they didn't just cut everything down. Another ride sign waiting to go up The building is completely painted and looks great. The ADA entrance is complete. Let's hope they do something with the wood overhead. The station is also done, and something is inside there. The front has been added to the train!! The ride has been testing and it is apparently vewwwy vewwwy quiet ... We've been asked by a few people if the ride will be soft opening next weekend, we have NO idea. But our guess would be no as the soft opening is technically the first month the ride is operational for Season Passholders. Quick update from the back of the park, the Action Theater is gone. Certainly a lot of room here for ... something. =) Only the facade remains While we aren't sure what's coming (other than rumors) we assume that it will be DC themed and if so hopefully they will find a way to connect the existing DC Universe area with Riddlers Revenge and the new ride. And a rehab/retheme of Tidal Wave maybe? Back up at the front, the new awning for the World Famous Funnel Cake Factory looks really nice. The Six Flags Emporium is now open Compared to what was here before it looks really nice. I saw some tweets earlier comparing it to a Kmart or Marshalls, I'd say it's at least on Target level. Not sure what people were expecting out of the store but again, compared to Flags this is a tremendous improvement. The no longer Orient Express The Carousel horses are coming back Everything is new, although we were kind of surprised to see that the flooring hadn't been repainted. Doesn't seem like it would be too hard to do so. I would imagine they could just spin the base and have somebody stand there with a roller or something. Alright, that's going to wrap it up for this update. Thanks for reading and we hope you all enjoyed it. If you want a taste of what the VR Experience will be like be sure to check out our report from Media Day at Six Flags Over Georgia last week. Today we were invited up for a great tour of The New Revolution now under construction at Six Flags Magic Mountain. The ride is looking AMAZING and we simply couldn't wait to share the update with you. We've also included a walk-through video for those who might want to have a video tour instead of pictures, or both. We wanted to try something a little different so we hope you enjoy it. If you do, let us know and we'll do more of them. Also, don't forget that you can join us on June 5 for Mountain Madness 2.0 where we will have ERT on The New Revolution, food, tours and more. Be sure to click the link to check that out. Pictures by Matthew Nelson Video and Written by Gregg Condon We'll start off with a look at the spectacular loop which looks great with the blue around it. They were applying the primer today so this should hopefully be completed by next week. A closer look, as you can see the primer is definitely not the finished product. Hard at work. According to our tour guide Bruce, the painting portion of the project is about 65% done and the entire project (not counting the trains) is about 75% done. Unfortunately we can confirm that a re-paint of Tatsu is not in the budget, at least not for this year. Along with The New Revolution, the entire front area of the park is getting redone. The Cyber Cafe seen below will now be called the Plaza Cafe. It will have a few new food items and will still offer free WiFi and everything that's inside now. (Confirmed by the park). Flags will now be called Six Flags Emporium and will receive a COMPLETE makeover inside. Suzette's Bakery will be renamed the World Famous Funnel Cake Factory and will also undergo some changes inside to hopefully make it easier to navigate. Their hope is to do the renovations during the week as to allow people to still get Funnel Cakes on the weekends. The Orient Express will now be called the "Helpful Honda Express" which means $$ needed to keep this attraction looking great. And it does. Lastly, the Grand Carousel will remain the same name but will be receiving a full overhaul. Moving on with the tour, white and shiny. As we head into the construction zone we can see all of the great work they are doing. The ride will no longer be themed to "Baja Ridge" but will instead be an "Americana" theme. The water features will not be returning but the entire area is going to be completely landscaped. Some new trees will be planted on the right. The new path is the ADA entrance and that will be near X2. Inside the station some things have changed, much hasn't. Bottom of the second drop heading into the third hill. The lift hill hasn't been painted ... yet. New and shiny A look at the final brake run Place your heads against the headrest because The New Revolution is coming VERY SOON!!! There will be another tour VERY soon and we will of course be there to do another great update. Thanks again for reading/viewing and for all of the incredible support. It's very much appreciated. |
