We've been putting off our Magic Mtn update this week because we've had so much other great stuff to share. We were originally going to post this tomorrow and post our Six Flags Discovery Kingdom update today, but tomorrow we were invited to a hard-hat tour of The Joker, so we figured we'd save that update for tomorrow morning to get you pumped for the tour! Written by Gregg Condon Also, don't forget, tickets for our event at Magic Mountain on June 5, 2016 are NOW ON SALE!!! Includes ERT on The New Revolution, Picnic Lunch, Backstage Tours and more!! All for just $55. Click the picture below to see how you can purchase tickets. We'll see you there!! Got to the park at about 10:32 - Boy do they shut down that Gold Passholder line quick.. =) Some new ad's in Gold Rusher's queue. We've included the scan code if you wanna play. Not too much change in the action theater, but work is going on. Moving on to The New Revolution, work has definitely picked up in the last week. Lots of barrels of blue primer ... it's not paint, it's primer. The station is getting an all new roof. Ladder, heading up the lift hill. Lots of ground clearing going on. Barrels o' Primer Lots of work going on in the station. The area where the ride controls are is also totally covered up as you can see on the bottom left. Since the queue is likely to be used this summer they are definitely working on that as well. This goes here and that goes there. A closer look at the ride control area. Looks like everything has been removed. On the other side lots of trees have been removed. We almost missed this, but the Grand Carousel is also closed for what looks like a pretty extensive refurb. This is great to see and kind of points to this entire area getting a makeover prior to The New Revolution opening. Orient Express was also closed but it looks like it was open on Sunday and Monday. Alright, that's going to wrap it up for this update. Be sure to check out the rest of our updates from this week on the site if you missed any and be sure you are following along on our social media tomorrow for live updates from the Joker tour at Discovery Kingdom. Happy Monday and welcome to our first Six Flags Magic Mountain update of 2016. We headed up to the park this past Saturday to get our first rides of 2016 in and of course to bring you the latest on The New Revolution. It was a very light day in the park as you'll see below. Also, don't forget our second event at Six Flags Magic Mountain "Mountain Madness 2.0 - Revolution's Revenge" will be held on Sunday June 5 with ERT on The New Revolution and much more. We got our pricing last week and we are VERY happy with what we've got for you all for such a low price. Look for tickets to be on sale within the next week or so. We'll of course let you all know when. In the meantime, be sure to click our event info in the link and RSVP. It's going to be an amazing day. Written by Gregg Condon One of the main reasons we headed up to the park was to process our 2016 Season Passes. This is the kind of line you want to see!! Because the park has been open daily (other than 2 days for rain) there is still a lot of Holiday In The Park stuff up. This will probably be gone by next week. The photo op is still looking great The loop ... hopefully they'll trim down these trees so we can get a clear view of the loop when the leaves come back in the spring. Yes, leaves fall off trees in California for the winter. ;) It's going to be so awesome to take these turns with no pain again. The walls at the entry have been decorated. 48 million rides, wow, that's awesome. RD only has about a million of those. =) Even though it was kind of chilly (in the 50's, so we won't say cold in respect to the rest of you who live in REALLY cold weather) they were working on Saturday. Pardon the zoom, only had the iPhone last week. If you eat at the park the Season Pass Gold Dining Pass is a really good deal. Us, we just got our sports bottle. A better angle, lots of wood replacement going on. It's nice to see them keeping the ride as close to original as possible. Moving around to the other side, lots of stuff has been torn out. Now that the trees are thinning out a bit we can start to see more of the work they are doing. Most of the old exit path that leads back towards the front of the park is gone. A wider shot ... And then lastly, from the Tatsu exit, you can see a lot of the layout. No paint yet and it's really not the best weather to be painting right now anyway. Moving on past Revolution towards Apocalypse. Took our first rides since Fright Fest and you can definitely tell they are working on the ride. While it's not quite where the ride was when it opened it's definitely rideable. You can see just how much wood is being replaced. There are also 2 trains on the ride, or there was last weekend. The old Dolphin/Action/Aftermath area is being removed for ??? A couple of random park notes, there is a new grill outside of the Waterfront area. It's a REALLY nice set-up. Need to have them come out and do this at our house. =) A new queue has been set up at Johnny Rockets which will hopefully help some of the traffic issues with people standing in the middle of the walkway. Hopefully these are coming to all eateries. Looks like a new sign for Panda Express is coming? Gearworks Theater is now promoting Season Passes. In honor of the upcoming Legacy of Arrow Documentary we made Viper our first coaster of 2016. Actually had a pretty decent ride on it. Be sure to check out the info for their world premiere on January 23. The park was so dead even Tatsu was a walk-on. Apparently I made some people shake their heads when I indicated on Instagram that I'm not really a fan of Tatsu. It's not just one thing, I just don't care for it. But I ride everything at least once a year, so that was my ride for the year. =) Best ride EVER!! Even though the park was pretty empty I expected there to be a line for Twisted Colossus. The Zeppelin has been replaced, which is great that they are maintaining the ride queue. And this was the line. The only time I'd seen a shorter line was during ERT of the first Mountain Madness back in October. Hopefully it will be slow next weekend too as we have JoAnna coming out from IL to ride Twisted Colossus for the first time. Alright, that's going to wrap it up for this update, we'll likely have another SFMM update next week as well as Knott's and maybe even Disneyland as apparently they are planning something big over there. =) Thanks again for all of the amazing support. We haven't thanked you all enough. This past Saturday night the online community along with some of those "other" types of news outlets were invited out to Six Flags Magic Mountain for a tour of Holiday In The Park. And when we say "Tour" we don't just mean lights and stuff, but a full on culinary overload of so much good food and fun. It was a great night hanging out with our friends from other sites because nothing brings people together like lots and lots and lots of unlimited food and hot chocolate. =) Written by Gregg Condon Awesome Pictures by Matt Nelson Not so good pictures and video by Gregg Condon Before we get started on Holiday In The Park stuff, why don't we take a quick look at Revolution. These are definitely the "Before" pictures. But they are hard at work in the station and things seem to be progressing very quickly. One of these updates we'll do a before/after just to show the amount of trees and other brush that has been cleared. Because it's A LOT. One bit of Twisted Colossus news, the new shed looks to be done over the transfer track. Not sure if no front of back is going to help though with El Nino coming. ;) So one of the biggest things for Holiday In The Park ... the food. And there is PLENTY of it. From great meals to desserts to amazing Hot Chocolate. Below, our food rankings from the plethora of food we tried on Saturday night. And trust us, this is just the tip of the iceberg. Be sure to check out the food pics below, but again, not all of it by any means.
At this point you all should be hungry and making your plans to get out to Holiday In The Park. But that's not even the half of it. Let's take a look around at the amazing holiday lights!! Let's start off in Winter Wonderland which stretches from Viper to Roaring Rapids. While the themes this year are the same as last year, there are many more lights this year, I think they said about 30,000 more. It's just amazing how different the park looks from Fright Fest to Holiday In The Park. It's absolutely beautiful. Really don't think it would be a bad thing if they kept it this theme all year. It looks spectacular. Next, let's move over to Rockin' Universe!! Be sure to check out video of one of the fun shows, there are a few of them. More amazing pics from Matt Look at all the Holiday fun!! We tried to capture the snowmen from the Snowmen glasses, but you should get them when you go. They are really cool. Lastly, snowy nights, even more fun with Ricky Rocks and friends!!! We ended our night with a ride on Revolution (kind of) with our friend Sean from California Coaster Kings. We hope you enjoyed this update from Holiday In The Park. Be sure to head up to the park this month to check out all the great fun, it's definitely a can't miss event. Holiday In The Park runs on select days until January 3, 2016. You can see all of the details of the event including hours and ticket prices here. We'll be back at some point this season, we'll be sure to post some updates from our return trip. Be sure to check out more holiday fun and our reviews for:
