![]() Last weekend we were invited out to experience Holiday in the Park at Six Flags Magic Mountain. We also got a preview of "Taste of Holiday in the Park" which begins December 14th. And of course, we took some time to get a West Coast Racers update now that the ride is testing. Written by Gregg Condon Welcome to a damp Holiday in the Park! The rest of the area is starting to come together a bit, still hoping for some more shade. Vroom!! The new Coaster Candy store had just opened the day of our visit, and looks great. Holiday in the ParkPrior to setting out to see the lights, we got a preview of Taste of Holiday in the Park Everything was REALLY good, we can't wait to head back and try more. Some of the HITP merchandise Be sure to buy a bear, and they'll give one to a local charity. We love this. SANTA!! I know him!! The popular S'mores stations are back. ![]() Today we headed up to Six Flags Magic Mountain for our first "park" update in a few months. Between vacations, Fright Fest and everything else it's been kind of hard to get up for a daytime visit. Plus with Apocalypse closed it was kind of getting repetitive since we couldn't see more of the ride. But not today!! Not only was the back area open, but more of the area is starting to take shape. We have a LOT to get to today, so let's get to it!! Written by Gregg Condon Early entry FTW!! Hey Tatsu, we see you hiding back there. DE-NIED!! Well, hope you enjoyed the update!!! Actually, the area was closed while Apocalypse was still testing. We had to come back later. Sling Shot is open as well Ready to head Underground? Video update and pics continuing below Curvy The station is really starting to take shape It's gonna be awesome to see trains flying overhead in all directions Nice Curves!! And lots of them! Twisty stuff all over the place More of the station The rest of the area is, well, not done. Crossing our fingers they don't leave it like this. There were supposed to be a lot more planters than two. Launch and electrical stuff. Some were expecting testing to start tomorrow, don't see that happening, but it should happen very soon. Twin Charged Tacos is open!! Street Tacos and Sopes. Would have greatly preferred more Coke Freestyle. But it looks quite nice inside. The restrooms are also open, very nice but no pics inside. Because that's just creepy. An overhead view from Samurai Summit. This is as far as you can get for now. Holiday in the Park The park is preparing for Holiday In The Park, which begins in (checks calendar), 13 days? Didn't Fright Fest JUST end? Merch already available in the stores. Including, Christmas Poop Hats? I mean, what did you eat!?!?! The globes are back in Metropolis. Lots of lights strung up for Rockin' Universe. Around The Park A few random odd's and end's from around the rest of the park. Revolution is currently running 1 train. The other train is on the transfer track. Not sure if it's getting pulled off or if it's coming back soon. Some Fright Fest props are still waiting to get put away for the winter. Superman (and Lex Luthor) are currently closed. More Fright Fest stuff lingering. They should do a "dark Christmas" theme in this area. =) Alrighty, that's going to wrap it up. We'll obviously be keeping our eyes on West Coast Racers over the next couple of weeks for testing and an opening date. As soon as we know, you will too!! Related Videos:

This past Friday night we headed back to Six Flags Magic Mountain for another round of scares at Fright Fest. After an opening night that was well over 100 degrees and packed, it was nice to visit on a Friday Night and have it be in the low 70s and VERY manageable crowds. We definitely recommend it. Let's head in!!
Written by Gregg Condon
Took the good camera, only about 20% of the pics actually turned out which is pretty typical for a Halloween event. =)
And so she walked out of our lives forever ...
(the "Temporary closed" sign was gone as well)
We arrived at the park just in time to take in "Unleashed".
Here they come ...
These 3 pictures show the art of the scare slide. Despite being a bit blurry I love these pics.
(click for larger version)
Where we would spend most of our night, but more on that later.
We first started off with the mazes and Vault 666 which I didn't experience on opening night.
Now in it's 5th (I think) year, this was easily the best year for this maze so far. Other than some of the props and the path, this maze seemed entirely new. Gone is the "animals and human hybrid" theme and it's taken on a whole new life.
Condamned was also really great, it just seems really quiet in there this year for some reason.
I try to get this shot every year, and it never works out.
Red's was fun as always, but would love to see some changes to this one next year. Or an entirely new maze.
Music and stuff happens here
Exile Hill
We did both Willoughby's and Sewer of Souls. It's definitely time for another re-theme for Willoughby's. It's still fun and the talent in here is great as always. I'd love to see the Willoughby's story continue, but a fully re-imagined maze is definitely needed here for next year. Sewer of Souls was great again, we did it once with the 3D and once without. Great both times.
Aftermath, fun as always.
The sign for the Underground is done
Looked like the track for West Coast Racers was completed, no station yet.
One of our absolute favorite scare zones
We also got some more story time with Lorraine Lurane. One of our absolute favorite characters at any Halloween event. Definitely not to be missed.
Foggy revolution
Hey Riddlers!!
Headed back in to City Under Siege.
We could seriously just stay here all night and be happy.
Looking for his next victim
Tag Team
No need to fight guys, plenty of teenagers to scare
Did a GIF of all of these shots but wanted to post them individually as well.
For some reason, 99% of the shots I took in Terrortory Twisted didn't turn out.
So long SFMM, until next time.
We're going to make it a point to go later in the evening one night just to see the Slider Show, so stay tuned for that.

![]() Stephen and Cliff are down in Mexico this week for some coaster fun, so look for lots of cool stuff from our neighbors to the south soon. One of their first stop was to the amazing Six Flags Mexico and their Festival Del Terror. Looks like a really cool event, let's check it out!! Written by Stephen Harrington Buenos Noches It's so dark!! What’s this RMC goodness I see Superman en Español Anyone know this guy? Festival Del Terror Scary DJ Set Warning, scare zone ahead this one was witches And the ultimate witch More scare zone fun There is no skimping on the queue designs Hello Discovery Kingdom More Medusa, just because So the houses are funny. It’s all the same formula just different themes. There’s a zombie outbreak theme, mummy theme, hospital theme, radioactive warehouse chemical leak etc...but the formula is the same. You walk in To the first room and the person gives a brief summary of what’s going on, in Spanish. Then you walk through the house with lots of banging, and the scare actors yelling at you, in Spanish. It’s amazing. And the actors WILL TOUCH you. But guess what, everyone’s having a great time. El Culto a La Llorona, hands down house of the night. It deviated from the above formula and was indooors and outdoors and had a creep factor. Full bar area near Medusa, plenty of TV’s and specialty Festival Del Terror drinks Still one of the best parks in the chain. And if you don’t have a pass, here’s the prices Overall fantastic event and the scare actors at all the houses and scare zones know their jobs and do thier jobs well!!! Related Videos:

![]() Last weekend was also the kick-off of Fright Fest at Six Flags Magic Mountain, which happened to fall on one of the hottest days of the year. We also managed to get some construction pics of West Coast Racers and take a ride on the newly reopened Apocalypse. Let's head in for some fun. Written by Gregg Condon Demon's Door, where you can get your mazes passes as well. I think we saw more maze purchase locations this year than any other year, which is a good thing. Some West Coast Racers pics and video, the track looks to be mostly done, the station is getting some work and the buildings are getting some nice paint. Hopefully testing will be starting soon. This video also features some of the updated queue for Apocalypse. New fence, no lookie for you!! The Preview Center was also closed Sadly we didn't know at this time that Apocalypse was open otherwise we would have gotten some pics and video from the other side. Next time!! Oh, and I know that some people thought we didn't know what we were talking about a few weeks back when we said deconstruction of Green Lantern would begin soon ... This sign has been up here for awhile, but it's funny now. =) The park set up a nice media reception with snacks, drinks and more. Time to get unleashed It was CROWDED!! The coffin challenge was still going strong, despite the heat Nap time Apocalypse was back open, it wasn't "2009 good", but it was really good and a definite improvement. The queue got some nice new upgrades Aftermath 2 was back, I actually got taken on a different path than I've been on before (as you'll see in the video) Willoughby's is also back, with a couple of new effects One of our favorite scare zones at any park. One tip for visitors: Please don't turn on your phone flashlights in scarezones, especially THIS scare zone. You're ruining it. CondAmned was back with a slightly different name change. Sadly towards 10pm I wasn't feeling all that great due to the heat so I ducked out before I got to experience all that the event had to offer. I don't deal well with that kind of heat. So we will be back, and soon to finish our Fright Fest experience. We hope you enjoyed this first look. Be sure to head out to the event, you can find all of the info here. Related Videos:
