What a Lovely Day!!! Seriously. Media Day for Twisted Colossus was all kinds of amazing. Not only is Twisted Colossus amazing, not only is the Steampunk District amazing, not only is Scream back open (tee hee) but Six Flags Magic Mountain just put on what is probably their best media day event, at least best out of the half dozen or so we've been to. More than it just being an amazing day, you could tell by how relaxed and at ease the Six Flags Magic Mountain management and staff were, they know they've got an absolute hit on their hands, and they hands down do. Below we'll break down Media Day and share some videos (there are four of them). Our full reviews of the ride and area will come after opening weekend. Written by Gregg Condon - Photo's by CoasterMatt and Gregg Condon - Video by Gregg Condon First up, let's kick off the event with Bonnie Rabjohn and friends opening Twisted Colossus with lots of pyro. Because pyro makes everything better. Be sure to watch all of the video's below in HD Quality!!! And of course, we've got some amazing pictures as well. Bonnie Rabjohn addressing the crowd. We actually spent a lot of time just chatting with Bonnie at the event, she's always been so gracious and cool with us and it's much appreciated. Like I said above, you can just tell by her staff that they love working for her and that they all love what Twisted Colossus and the Screampunk District will bring to the park. This is obviously one of CoasterMatt's shots. And this one too. =) One of only two contributions from Gregg this update. =) Enjoy the ride in motion ... Bonnie Rabjohn, Doug, Greg and Jeff Bernard (who built the original Colossus) and Fred Grubb from RMC. Twisted Colossus is hardly the only thing new at Magic Mountain, the Screampunk District looks AMAZING and along with DC Universe is the best themed area in the park. It's easy for people to say Twisted Colossus is so good because it was done by RMC, but keep in mind, everything else from Twisted Colossus being painted and having wood replaced to the queue to ALL of Screampunk was done in-house at Six Flags. And they did an AMAZING job. Below we have a full walk-through of the area and a lot of the little touches they added really do go a long way. As you'll see from the pics below, it really is quite amazing. New at the Gearworks Theatre this summer is Kwerk created by Michael Turco who has done a few shows at the park now as well as the Fright Feast dinner shows for Fright Fest. We saw a preview of the show and enjoyed it a lot. Definitely the most ambitious show Six Flags Magic Mountain has ever attempted. Hopefully people will take the time to see it. Lots of great little touches in the area and it's nice that they went drought resistant here in California. Been looking for a new bike ... =) Last and certainly not least, the crown jewel in the parks coaster line-up ... Twisted Colossus. We've got two great videos for you. First up a walk-through of the queue building and a POV video from the last seat on the train. I love that they've re-purposed the Colossus building but updated it to fit the theme, but also keeping some little touches of the original. It works very well. Great steampunk touches in the queue. And of course, our reverse POV footage and full on-ride POV of Twisted Colossus. Thanks for following along with our updates during media day, without a doubt it was the single biggest day in the history of this website, on social media anyway. A lot of new fans have found us on Facebook (almost 60 on Media Day) and for that we are totally grateful for you fans sharing our updates. One of our posts (the POV video) received more than 10,000 views in the first few hours, for us that's simply unbelievable and unfathomable. But we are so grateful you've all enjoyed the updates. And of course, in August we'll be hearing what Six Flags is bringing to their parks in 2016 and this will all be starting over again. And we'll of course be along for the ride.
